My name is Hannah; I'm 16 years old and currently a junior in high school (although I cannot wait to get out of my craphole of a school and go to college). I have been riding horses for 9 years (3 years competing hunter/jumper, 5 years competing dressage, 1 year recreational riding both Western and English -- yeah, I've been around the board, haven't I?). The center of my life right now (besides the crazy junior year) is Project RIDE, a therapeutic horseback riding program where I volunteer 4-6 days a week. I'm working on getting my Instructor's Certification with NARHA. Oh, and the love of my life is Ranger (featured in my avatar and the Why Girls Love Horses preview photo), who my parents literally sold out from under me. I still haven't quite forgiven them for that.
As for my arts, I was primarily a writer of angst teen poetry, although lately I have been delving into different types of prose. My photography is pretty primitive, and I'm experimenting a lot with that and my camera, which is a traditional film camera made in 1986. Any constructive criticism on my work is always appreciated.
So not only have I been unable to have any real quality time with my camera, I've been rather horse-deprived. This week I only went to RIDE twice, and only three times last week. Next week there will be NO horses because it's Easter break and there are no classes. I'm seriously considering driving around the back roads and snapping some photos, if I can get the energy up. I especially wanted to enter the contest that the Equine Artists Club is holding, but it doesn't look like I'm going to get the chance.
Oh, the CDI show is this weekend. Not sure how it's going to be held, since it's been raining non stop for three weeks. We had two days of sun yesterday and today, but it's supposed to start raining again tonight. Sigh.
I'm going to Salem, Oregon at the end of next week for an interview at Willamette University, so maybe I can get photos there. It's a cool town, er, city.
